The rollator changed Lisbeth's life – now she walks five kilometers a day
A few years ago, Lisbeth Asplund's partner Kenneth suffered a stroke. They then got a rollator and as Kenneth got better, Lisbeth also started using it. Now, with the help of the Trionic rollator, she can go for long walks in the forest every day.
After Lisbeth Asplund's partner Kenneth had a stroke, he had difficulty walking and moving around. But with the help of Trionic's rollator, he was soon on the road to recovery. Then Lisbeth took the opportunity to try out the rollator herself.
“I stole that thing all the time. The neighbors saw me out with the rollator more often than Kenneth,” says Lisbeth, laughing.
The rollator changed her life and today she walks almost five kilometers a day on various lighted trails.
The rollator made Lisbeth's life easier
Lisbeth Asplund, who is now 80 years old, says that she feels quite well for her age and has not had to have any surgeries or the like that many others have to do. Despite this, she chose to start using a rollator almost three years ago. Today, it functions more as a support for her rather than a must-have in everyday life.
“My walks are much, much longer when I walk with the rollator. There is no risk of falling when I walk with it and my stride length has become longer,” she says.
Lisbeth also says that it has become easier to get out into nature with Trionic's rollators because they have larger wheels and a good seating surface. In addition, life also becomes more social when you can get out every day.
– For us older people, it's essential to be able to get out and have that encounter with others. There's always someone who comes and talks to you, she says.
Many times Lisbeth is stopped precisely because people want to know what kind of rollator she uses.
The rollator doesn't make you old – quite the opposite
According to Lisbeth, many people may feel afraid to start using a rollator because they don't want to feel old or give the impression that they are old. But according to her, it is exactly the opposite.
– You get a swing in your steps and give a much healthier impression than when you are outside and walk with small and short steps. I also have much better posture when I walk with the walker than without it because the core muscles are not what they once were.
The message that Lisbeth wants to convey to other pensioners is that Trionic's rollators are an aid, it's not something you have just because you're old.
"When you have hearing loss, you get a hearing aid without a second thought. But starting with a rollator when your balance fails you often puts it off. I usually say that even if you can dance, you can use a walker," she says.
Rollators that make active living easier
At Trionic, there are several different options for those who want to live a more active and accessible life with a rollator. There are several different types of all-terrain rollators, all of which have different features depending on the activity you are looking for.
– Often it is the rollator that limits the user and not the other way around. If you have the right rollator, you can continue to do what you enjoy, says Johan Kuikka, CEO of Trionic.
Johan Kuikka believes that using a rollator as a training tool for preventive purposes can actually lead to people staying away from the walker as a necessity for longer. This is because Trionics walkers make it easier to continue living an active life for longer.
